Washer repair across York Region and North York

A washer that quits does it full of wet laundry, and in a condo a leak goes straight to the neighbour below, so machines stuck full of water and active leaks are priority calls across our whole service area.

We repair every washer type York Region homes run: full-size front-loaders and top-loaders in the subdivisions, the original builder-installed Whirlpool, GE and Kenmore top-loaders in the 1990s and 2000s homes, 24-inch stacked laundry pairs and all-in-one washer-dryer combos in the condo corridors along Yonge, Highway 7 and Sheppard, and Miele, Electrolux and Speed Queen front-loaders in the estate homes.

What is wrong with my washer?

  • Won't drain or spin. Blocked or failed drain pump, a sock or coin in the pump filter, a worn drive belt, or a lid switch or door lock that is not registering closed. The most common washer call we get. On front-loaders it shows as OE, F21, 5E or E2 depending on brand.
  • Leaking from the front. Torn door boot seal on a front-loader, almost always from something sharp left in a pocket. Leaking from underneath points to a drain hose, inlet valve or tub seal.
  • Won't fill, fills slowly, or sits at the start of the cycle. Inlet valve, water level pressure switch, or the control board. On well water in Aurora, King City, Stouffville and Oak Ridges, and hard municipal water in Newmarket, scaled inlet screens come first.
  • Loud banging during spin. Worn suspension rods on top-loaders, shock absorbers on front-loaders, or a failing drum bearing. A bearing sounds like a jet engine and is the one washer fault that sometimes tips toward replacement.
  • Stuck on a cycle or won't start. Door lock assembly, control board, or a thermal fuse on older units.
  • Smells or leaves residue. Mould in the door boot on front-loaders, a clogged drain filter, or detergent build-up. Cleaning and a boot replacement if the seal is damaged.

What it costs

Pricing depends on the appliance, the brand, the fault and the part, so we do not publish a price list. Tell us what it is doing and we will tell you what to expect before anyone comes out. Call or email for a quote.

Brands we repair

Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Electrolux, Bosch, Kenmore, Inglis, Blomberg, Miele and Speed Queen. Samsung and LG front-loaders are the most common washer call across York Region, followed by the original Whirlpool and Kenmore top-loaders in the older subdivisions.

Repair or replace?

The rule of thumb: if the appliance is under about ten years old and the repair is well under the cost of a comparable new one, repair usually wins. On premium built-ins that is true almost regardless of age, because replacement runs into five figures and has to fit existing cabinetry. Sealed-system leaks on freestanding fridges, cracked washer tubs and control boards that are no longer made are the usual exceptions. We tell you which side of that line you are on before any work starts, so you are not throwing money at a lost cause.

How much does washer repair cost?

It depends on the brand, the fault and the part. Call (905) 000-0000 or email hello@yorkregionappliancepros.ca with the symptom and we will tell you what to expect.

What are the most common washer problems you fix?

Washer won't spin or drain; Washer leaking; Washer not filling or stuck on a cycle; Loud banging during spin; Error codes (F21, OE, UE, E2).

Which brands?

Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Electrolux, Bosch, Kenmore, Miele and most others.

Where do you offer washer repair?

Richmond Hill, Markham, Aurora, Newmarket, Stouffville, Thornhill, North York and King City.

My washer is full of water and won't drain. What should I do before you arrive?

Unplug it, and if there is a filter door at the bottom front, put a towel down and open it slowly to drain the machine into a shallow pan. That gets the wet laundry out and often reveals the sock or coin that caused it. If the machine is leaking, close the two supply valves behind it.

What do the error codes OE, F21, 5E and E2 mean?

They are all drain faults: OE on LG, F21 on Whirlpool and Maytag, 5E on Samsung, E2 on some Frigidaire and GE units. Nine times out of ten it is a blocked or failed drain pump, which we carry for all four brands and replace in one visit.

Need it fixed fast?
